When you’re looking to refresh your wardrobe for a new season, starting a new job, choosing an outfit for a wedding, or packing for a vacation, it’s easy to find fashion inspiration everywhere you look. Maybe you see an outfit on Instagram, save a look on Pinterest, see a celebrity wearing something you love, or browse your favorite clothing retailers for ideas. No matter where you look, there’s so much fashion inspiration available.

And then you find the perfect piece…until you see the price.

I know how disappointing that can be, which is why I’m always looking for coastal fashion finds that have a designer look without a designer price. Whether you’re drawn to coastal, classic, or preppy style, you shouldn’t have to spend more than you want to create the look you’re after.

DESIGNER LOOK FOR LESS: COASTAL FASHION

Below are some of my favorite coastal fashion designer looks for less. I regularly add new finds and update this page, but availability and prices can change quickly. If you see something you love, it’s worth checking it out sooner rather than later, especially since popular styles can sell out after being shared on social media.

Some items I find are nearly identical to a high-end version, while others are simply inspired by a similar aesthetic. You’ll often see these called “designer dupes,” “splurge or save,” or “same look for less.” They’re a great way to capture the feel of a designer piece without the designer price.

If you truly love the original and can afford it, you might still want the designer piece. But if it’s out of your budget, you can still enjoy the style by choosing something with a similar vibe for less. It’s about getting the look you love, not pretending something is what it’s not.

I’m constantly browsing retailer sites for the newest trends and the best timeless classics. Along the way, I come across affordable pieces that channel the look and feel of designer styles. Some are almost indistinguishable from the original, while others offer a similar silhouette, detail, or color that will still give your outfit the same look and feel.

As I find these fashion lookalikes, I add them to this running list. So make sure to bookmark this page or save it to Pinterest to come back and see the newest finds. The items I feature typically reflect a beach lifestyle or coastal fashion aesthetic, including preppy, classic, and vacation-ready pieces. That includes clothing like dresses, sweaters, shoes, and tops, as well as accessories like bags, jewelry, headbands, and belts.

If you’re visiting from Instagram or Pinterest and can’t find the item you came for, it probably means both the designer version and the lookalike have sold out, so I’ve taken it down to keep things current.

Pin one of these graphics on Pinterest, or bookmark this page, so you can continue to refer back to these coastal fashion designer dupes. And don’t forget to follow Stars & Anchor on Pinterest and on Instagram for more coastal home decor, lifestyle and beach inspiration.

A graphic that reads, "Same Look for Less: Coastal Fashion Designer Dupes." The graphic features silhouetted drawings of these items: a dress, a purse, high heel shoes, and a tank top. Each item is doubled to represent fashion designer dupes.

As you’ve seen, there are many coastal fashion items that look similar to more expensive designer fashion but is actually more affordable.

If you love a style of clothing, shoes, or accessories, but don’t have the budget for a designer price tag, you can usually find the same look for less money. Many more affordable items have similar qualities to more expensive items, so even if you can’t afford the designer version, you can achieve a similar look with a price you feel comfortable with. By adding in your own accessories and outfit styling you can dress your outfit up or down.

Something to keep in mind when shopping for designer-inspired items is that designer pieces are typically crafted with premium materials and expert craftsmanship, which contributes to their higher price. Designer-inspired items, on the other hand, may prioritize style over materials or construction, which is often how they achieve a more accessible price point. That said, this isn’t always the case, as many affordable alternatives are made well and can hold up well over time. The key is to be mindful that the similarity is often in appearance, not always in quality, so you can shop with realistic expectations.
